The Trouble with Wanting
— Poetry — 1 min read
the doctor says not to scratch but i do
not with my fingers but with my eyes
my brain and its thinking clock tick tick
want. tick tick want. tick tick flaunt
my friends say not to scratch but i do
not with my fingers but with my heart
my chest and its beating drum thump thump.
thump thump. thump thump. skip—
she tells me not to scratch but i do
not with my fingers but with wanting
behaving and braving and craving and caving
